INL researchers are exploring new ways to predict breast cancer metastasis
(INL News Webpage) The 3DSecret project is advancing breast cancer research by analysing circulating tumour cells (CTCs) in the bloodstream, offering a less invasive alternative to tissue biopsies. By isolating and cultivating these cells in lab environments mimicking their natural habitat, researchers use artificial intelligence to uncover genetic markers and drivers of metastasis.
Recently, Miguel Xavier, 3DSecret's technical coordinator, highlighted the project's potential on 90 Segundos de Ciênciaon Antena 1: "This research could provide insights into the relationship between specific tumour characteristics and their metastatic potential, contributing to improved cancer therapies."
Funded by Horizon Europe and UKRI, 3DSecret unites partners from Portugal, Spain, Italy, and the UK to transform breast cancer prognosis…
